Freudian Trip

GCSE and A Level artists visited an immersive exhibition on The Uncanny at the neighbouring Freud Museum this week.

The new exhibition, marking 100 years Sigmund Freud wrote his paper on The Uncanny, explores his theory that went on to inspire art, film, literature and psychoanalytic enquiry.  Emilia Raczkowska from Education & Outreach at the museum introduced the students to the exhibition via specially created artworks and an immersive room inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story of The Sandman.

The students were inspired to respond to the theme with practical work of their own, showcased in the gallery above, which will result in a display of collaborative work in the museum and at school after half term.
