Champion Philosophers

A team of our Philosophy & Religion students have been crowned winners of a national ‘philosothon’ contest.

Having argued their way past strong competition in the regional qualifying round, beating St Paul’s, City of London and Fulham Boys’ , our team of pupils from Year 9 to the Sixth Form went onto represent London in the first national finals of the UK Philosothon hosted by Stowe School in Buckinghamshire. Up against students from seven other schools, including Brighton College and King’s College Taunton, they were given less than 24 hours notice to prepare their ideas and responses to a range of concepts, including the ethics of fast fashion, mandatory vaccines, meat-eating and freedom of speech.

Head of Philosophy & Religion, Ms Kennedy, commented: “The students showed excellent intellectual reasoning and articulated their responses so clearly and concisely – and in such an understated way. They should be very proud to call themselves the first national Philosothon champions.”

Congratulations to Molly and Nihaarika in Year 9, Amalie and Axelle in Year 10, Lily and Suchita in Year 11 and Amy, Izzy, Lydia and Sofia in the Lower Sixth.
