Alumnae Giving Back
This academic year, 170 alumnae have returned to their old school to inspire and motivate our students.
This week, we were delighted to hear from alumna Dame Carolyn Hamilton, who spoke to students about her role as a lawyer and internationally-respected expert on children’s rights as part of our Empowering Young Women project. Carolyn is an advocate for a wide range of issues affecting children and young people, from child protection and juvenile justice to early marriage and child exploitation. She has transformed justice for generations of children across the world. Carolyn was made a Dame in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for Services to Children’s Rights and Education. Dame Carolyn was our 27th alumnae speaker at South Hampstead this year.
Students also recently heard from alumna Lindsey Noakes (above) about her work in co-founding Gather, an organisation that uses data to address the urban sanitation crisis in emerging cities. Lindsey was recently listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 list for her achievements as a social entrepreneur. Others have spoken about their time at university and the UCAS application process, their careers, their life experiences, run mock medical and veterinary school interviews, or simply returned to catch up with old school friends and former teachers at one of our many reunions.
We look forward to welcoming back many more of our community of successful and talented ‘old girls’ next year.
