Sports Highlights
Pupils have enjoyed an active start to the year across a range of sports.
The Sports Department have organised a busy schedule of fixtures so far this term – from swimming and football to indoor cricket and cross country – as well as outings to watch some big games: Arsenal vs Chelsea Ladies at the Emirates, and England vs Jamaica netball at the Copperbox.
Special mentions go to our U12 Cricket Squad, undefeated and winning gold at the London girls’ tournament at Lord’s, and to our football teams for their fantastic first round matches in the Sisters n Sport competition – the first time that lots of our pupils have played 11-a-side matches. Our U15s lost narrowly to Forest School, but our U13 team won 5-2 against Highgate, taking them through to the second round of the Sisters n Sport cup – a South Hampstead first!
Three pupils have been selected to compete nationally so far this year: Evie in Year 8 competed on the slopes of Andorra last month as part of the 2023 GB Children’s Ski Team; Millie in Year 11 has been selected to represent Team England in the ISF World Schools’ Ski Competition; while dancer Izzy in Year 8 is representing GB in Florida this summer, as one of 1500 athletes at the Maccabi Games. Our ski squad also had a great week at the British Schoolgirls’ Races in Flaine, with Alice picking up three Bronze medals in the U16 category, Melissa placing 3rd in the U14 Slalom, and our B Team getting onto the podium in second place for best overall performance.
Parents can now check fixtures, view team sheets and track team performances on our new sports website and follow our sporting news on Twitter.
