Summer Music

We ended the academic year with more spectacular music-making.

During the last few weeks of the summer term, the Senior School hosted a teatime concert, which featured a beautiful duet by Elizabeth in Year 9 with her brother, as well as a performance by Dr Collisson and Miss Hunt, arranged and conducted by Music Scholar, Kaelyn. Our Chamber Concert was another wonderful evening, with performances by our guitar players, flute ensemble, string chamber groups, Year 9 vocal trio and recorder ensemble.

We ended the academic year with two outstanding Summer Concerts in Waterlow Hall.  The Junior School celebrated the recent coronation with a royalty-themed concert including pieces by Queen and Carole King, ending the night with a spirited rendition of Proud Mary as performed by Tina Turner.

The Senior School concert included slick performances from our jazz bands, choirs, ukulele orchestra, symphonic wind band, concert band and sinfonia. The audience was treated to an array of uplifting genres, from Dvorak’s New World Symphony to a Lady Gaga Dance Mix, and John Coltrane’s jazz to toe-tapping film scores.  Percussion was a particular highlight, with Mr Marsden’s head deployed as a drum during one of the jazz solos – a joyous and fitting finale to another amazing year of music-making.
