GDST Sing!
Six members of our Chamber Choir joined GDST singers from across the UK to perform at the Royal Academy of Music.
The annual GDST Sing! event brings together top choristers from GDST schools in the impressive surroundings of Britain’s oldest conservatoire. Elen, Leila, Maia, Mimi and Sophia in Year 11 and Maggie in the Lower Sixth spent the day rehearsing alongside pupils from twenty different GDST schools, led by conductor and choral specialist Tori Longdon.
At the end of the day, the newly formed choir performed a vast range of music to parents and staff, with Elen, Maia and Sophia all singing outstanding solos. The concert featured a piece by one of the UK’s leading composers, Cecelia McDowall, who was not only in the audience, but joined a panel discussion with the librettist Kevin Crossley-Holland.
Mrs Paul commented: “I was delighted to listen to such exceptional performances from our pupils. I thank all the girls and staff who contributed to the occasion – a joyful celebration of the strength of the GDST community and a powerful tribute to the musical talent which is such a hallmark of South Hampstead.”
It was a truly fantastic day for all the girls involved.
