Top Physicists

Congratulations to our top Physicists who entered challenging Olympiads, solving advanced problems beyond the GCSE and A Level curricula.

All our Lower Sixth Physicists took part in the online Senior Physics Challenge, achieving 5 Silver awards, 5 Bronze awards and 2 commendations. Four students subsequently decided to have a go at the harder paper-based Senior Physics Challenge – well done to Clara who achieved Bronze, and to Hana, Anna and Talia who achieved Silver. Hana, Anna and Talia also achieved a Gold award in the Experimental Challenge in which they had to develop a method to accurately measure the motion of a slinky as it fell from a height. All Lower Sixth Students also enjoyed a sunny day out to Thorpe Park this month, taking to the rides to learn more about rollercoaster engineering, electromagnetic braking and negative G force!

At GCSE, six courageous Year 11 students had a go at the Intermediate Physics Challenge. Well done to Keya, Stella, Gabriella and Lizzie who achieved Bronze 2 awards and to Ivona and Lara who achieved Bronze 1 awards. We also would like to wish good luck to the eleven Year 10 students who had a go at the Junior Physics Challenge this week – their results will be out soon.
