German Exchange

Year 10 German students embarked on an exciting exchange trip, marking a significant cultural and educational experience.

The group of eight students immersed themselves in the rich history, vibrant culture and dynamic atmosphere of city, visiting historical landmarks, engaging in language practice, and forming connections with their German partners. Two students share their experiences:

After being cordially welcomed by our host families at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, we made our way to our new homes for the next couple of days. We enjoyed an educational boat tour on the River Spree, were fascinated by a trip to the Berlin Wall, spent quality time with our lovely host families, and had the opportunity to speak lots of German. We also toured the Reichstag building and see the beautiful sights such as the Brandenburg Gate before having to say goodbye to all of the joyful experiences that Berlin has to offer and making our way back to London Heathrow!  – Paloma

The German exchange trip was a fun and interesting experience, allowing us to explore Berlin’s sights and live with an exchange partner; the family I stayed with was very welcoming, friendly and kind. We had the chance to spend half a day in a German school, which helped me to understand how their school system differs to ours. For me, a highlight of the trip was getting to explore the city centre on a boat tour and spending time visiting attractions with my exchange partner.  – Lilia

The German exchange is one of many modern language trips we offer to enable our pupils to broaden horizons and put their learning into practice.
