Pupil Voice Award
South Hampstead has been lauded as ‘the best of the best’ for pupil voice in The Week’s independent schools guide.
The autumn/winter edition features The Week’s annual guide to the leading senior schools in the UK, with editors selecting their top choices in consultation with education experts, teachers, parents and pupils. South Hampstead clinched the 2024 title of best school for pupil voice, praised for “instilling girls with the self-belief to navigate the world with confidence.” The guide recognises South Hampstead’s well-established culture of oracy across and beyond the curriculum, highlighting the wealth of opportunities for pupils to listen to, engage with and debate different viewpoints.
Mrs Paul was featured in the same publication, penning an article on the role schools can play in shaping the next generation of future leaders: “Formal education in oracy offers one of the most powerful opportunities to equip our pupils with the skills for listening that will serve them so well in adult life.” Read her opinion piece here.
She added: “I am thrilled that the community has been recognised for such an important aspect of South Hampstead life. From the very earliest years, we encourage pupils to develop a curiosity about the world and to discover a sense of self. Enabling every girl to find her voice creates wonderful opportunities to support personal growth as well as collective gain. I am grateful to all our staff who work so hard to promote such an empowering culture of discussion and debate.”
