Chamber Choir
Our top choristers gave triumphant performances at Southwark Cathedral and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall this term.
Our Senior Chamber Choir – an auditioned choir of talented singers in Year 10 and above – comprises twenty choristers, led and conducted by Miss Ellis. As well as delivering spectacular performances at numerous school events, including this term’s Spring Concerts, they have been invited to sing at some of the most prestigious venues in the country this term.
In February, the girls sang evensong at Southwark Cathedral: a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Joanna Marsh, responses by Richard Shepherd, and the anthem was O Vos Omnes by David Hamilton. The girls relished the opportunity to sing in such a beautiful building and look forward to singing more services later in the year.
In March, they travelled to Birmingham as one of just 16 choirs selected from over 70 entries, qualifying to perform at the grand final of the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition at the city’s Symphony Hall. Just five prizes were presented at the finals, with our Senior Chamber Choir scooping the runner up award in the traditional song category for their fantastic performance of Even When He Is Silent. Congratulations to our girls on their outstanding choral endeavours.
