Our ‘Tanzlicht’ squad enjoyed a Day of Dance with fellow GDST students at the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden.

In early December, our dancers joined pupils from across the Girls’ Day School Trust to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a part of the dance industry and an opportunity to be taught by some of the top choreographers in the UK at one of its most famous venues.

The girls took part in an array of workshops, learning routines in the styles of Street, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Ballet and Lyrical Jazz. Some of the big name teachers instructing the girls included Joel Morris, a principal dancer with international ballet companies and in the West End, and hip-hop choreographer John Graham, who has worked with artists including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber and Jessie J.

Our Head of Dance, Miss Scahill, who was twice national champion in her native Australia and has been dancing since the age of 6, currently trains over 120 girls in 7 different dance squads at South Hampstead. “Along with our annual Gym & Dance Show, this day of workshops has to be one of the highlights of the year – such a fantastic opportunity for our dancers to develop their skills and to showcase their talents.”
