On its first anniversary, Waterlow Hall is shortlisted for the Architects’ Journal Retrofit Awards 2021.

We are delighted that Waterlow Hall has been shortlisted as one of four projects in the ‘schools’ category of the prestigious design awards.

Twelve months ago, we welcomed two very special guests to cut the ribbon as we opened the doors of our state-of-the-art performance space. The newly refurbished hall swiftly became central to everyday school life, hosting trailblazing dramatic productions, inspiring speaker events and outstanding musical concerts.  Despite the curveball of the pandemic, Waterlow Hall adapted to accommodate yoga and teambuilding, tech clubs and online assemblies, as well as becoming a flexible space for dozens of spectacular, socially-distanced, live-streamed performances and events in its first year.

We have committed to donating all proceeds generated by the future rental of Waterlow Hall to help fund the school’s bursary programme, providing more free places for girls who could not otherwise afford an education at South Hampstead, and look forward to fully opening its doors again safely soon.
