Arkwright Scholar

One of our Sixth Formers has become the sixth South Hampstead student since 2017 to be awarded the prestigious engineering scholarship.

Stella, who is currently studying Mathematics, Physics, Design & Technology and Geography, plans to study Engineering at university. The rigorous scholarship selection process was particularly competitive this year as, due to Covid, there was diminished industry sponsorship and subsequently fewer scholarships available. However, 2020 saw a record number of female scholarships awarded.

As an Arkwright Scholar, Stella will receive comprehensive support through her A Level years with a variety of enrichment opportunities as well as funding to assist with technical studies and wider experience of engineering. The awards are sponsored by commercial companies, universities and government organisations, and enable bright, potential engineers to benefit from valuable hands-on experience, mentoring and career planning.

In 2019, Stella was named as South Hampstead’s Sportswoman of the Year for her contribution to cricket and hockey – congratulations on another outstanding achievement.
