Bank of England Innovator
One of our Sixth Form students is a winner in this year’s Bank of England Innovation Competition.
Irene in the Lower Sixth is one of ten winners in the national competition, which aims to find creative students who are passionate about data science; all prizewinners secure a paid 6-week internship at the Bank.
The Bank of England, whose mission is to maintain monetary and financial stability, asked students to respond to the following question: How can artificial intelligence (AI) shape the mission of the Bank of England? Irene’s 5-minute video submission focused on how AI can provide better data on current and future inflation – watch her winning entry here.
Irene joined South Hampstead Sixth Form last September; she is taking A Levels in Computer Science, Economics, Maths and Further Maths and plans to continue studying Computing or Economics at university.
“I love the theory as well as the application of Computing and Economics – this competition provided the perfect opportunity to be creative and come up with my own solutions. The prize will allow me to experience work in both of the fields I enjoy. Working on a project alongside the technology teams in the Bank of England this summer will be incredible.”
