Bursary Mentors
We welcomed back two former bursary recipients to speak to current pupils as part of our bursary mentoring scheme.
Lola Busari and Datshiane Navanagayam were in the same year group and left South Hampstead in 2005. Lola is now a university lecturer and Datshiane is a broadcaster and journalist. Today, they remain close friends and often return to the school. Datshiane is a South Hampstead Governor and both are members of our Bursary Board; they also head up our Class of 2005 bursary campaign.
On this visit, they came to impart wisdom to our current bursary pupils about their own experiences at school. They were joined on the panel by two of our current Sixth Form bursary award holders – a wonderful opportunity for bursary students to share experiences and seek advice about making the most of the opportunities at South Hampstead. Both Lola and Datshiane remarked on how important it is to hold informal events such as these, where pupils feel empowered to speak their mind, and are supported by their peers. You can discover more about the transformative impact of our bursary scheme from both current and former bursary students here.
