Calcutta Social Project Partnership

This term, we have established a new partnership with the Calcutta Social Project – a charity who work with underprivileged women and children in India to help unleash their potential.

The charity has numerous centres, providing shelter, nutrition and education; our pupils will be working with children to supplement their English language learning as well as helping to develop their computing skills. This week, our Lower Sixth students woke up extra early to meet girls of the same age online, resulting in lots of animated chat about lessons, playing football and chocolate. Later in the day, Year 11 pupils enjoyed introducing themselves to more girls in another live, online session across the continents. Next week, our pupils will learn how to make videos to share with the children in India, while Year 7 volunteers will be working on an interactive Art task with girls and boys of a similar age in Kolkata.

Maths Teacher Ms Aneja, who is the School Consultant Teacher on Social Action and Volunteering, commented: “It is exciting to get this fantastic project underway – a mutually beneficial initiative that really helps to expand the horizons of our own pupils as well as providing transformative educational opportunities for many children in Kolkata.”
