‘Class of’ Bursaries
In 2019, we launched our ‘Class of’ bursary initiative, encouraging year groups of former pupils to fund a full-fee paying place for a bursary pupil.
The idea is to invite our alumnae to join together in their year group cohorts and, through small regular donations or one-off gifts, help support means-tested bursary awards for the next generation of bright young women. The key to the programme is that everyone, at whatever level they can afford, can be involved in creating a legacy to their time at the school and provide life-changing opportunities.
Each year, we invite our leavers to join this scheme as their leaving gift to the school. Last year, for the first time and thanks to the generosity of their parents, the Class of 2021 were able to fund a full fee bursary place for a pupil who joined the Sixth Form this September.
There are now four ‘Class of’ cohorts supporting bursaries through this scheme and every year more alumnae join the programme. The ‘Class of 2022’ and ‘Class of 1982’ bursaries will launch this spring; if you would like to find out more about how you can get involved, then please contact alumnae@shhs.gdst.net.
Involvement with this bursary initiative has not only enriched a young girl’s life, but has also enriched my own.
