Computational Thinkers
Our Computer Scientists in Years 7 to 10 have excelled in this year’s UK Bebras Challenge.
The annual competition, organised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in partnership with the University of Oxford, challenges students to use their computational and logical thinking skills to solve a range of fun and engaging Computer Science puzzles. In the Junior competition, for Year 7, over 130,000 students participated nationally. 42% of our pupils achieved a Gold Award which places them in the top 10% nationally, while 75% of our students achieved a score that places them in the top 25% nationally. Congratulations to all our pupils, with a special mention to those who attained the maximum marks possible: Aiyla, Amirah, Calissa, Cleo, Imogen, Marina, Matilde, Naomi, Stella and Zoe.
In the Intermediate competition, for Years 8 and 9, over 240,000 students participated nationally. 33% of our students achieved a Gold Award, placing them in the top 10% nationally, and 73% of students achieved a score that places them in the top 25% nationally. ‘Best in school’ certificates were awarded jointly to Amelie and Charlotte in Year 9 who both attained full marks. Our GCSE Computer Science students participated in the Senior category of the competition, with 22% of students achieving a Gold Award and 46% of students achieving a score that places them in the top 25% nationally. Well done to Evie in Year 10 was awarded the ‘best in school’ certificate.
The next round of the competition is The Coding Challenge 2025 which takes place in March. Congratulations to the girls for their outstanding efforts and results!
