Creative Writing Prize
Congratulations to Dia in Year 6, winner of this year’s GDST Creative Writing Prize.
The annual prize was judged by GDST alumna, Oxford graduate, former editor and best-selling author, Rachel Hore. Entries were invited from the 25 GDST schools across England and Wales on the theme of New Rules for the Future World.
Dia’s story was awarded the top prize in the Year 5/6 category, praised for its unusual subject matter: the ethics involved in programming driverless cars. Rachel commented: “Dia dramatised well an imaginary test legal case, drawing out the human tragedy carefully and movingly and using dialogue to explain the ethical arguments. It’s a well-structured story, too, vividly and crisply written.”
