Cyber Skills

Our Computer Scientists continue to develop their problem-solving, logic and coding skills as they take part in an array of exciting challenges.

A team of Year 8 pupils took part in a competitive day of problem-solving, lateral thinking and cryptography in the regional semi-finals of a national cyber security challenge. Congratulations to Eleanor, Leila, Chiara and Matilda, who battled it out for a place in the CyberFirst grand final with great teamwork and enthusiasm. The competition aims to inspire girls interested in a cyber security career and attracted more than 6,500 entrants this year.

One of our Sixth Form Computer Scientists has been awarded a prize in the Cambridge & Oxford Summer School Essay Competition run by Immerse Education. Ailin’s essay on how Computer Science has aided the pandemic was awarded a scholarship to enable her to take part in a summer residential programme at the University of Cambridge – a two-week course that promotes programming and problem-solving. Ailin joined South Hampstead Sixth Form last year; she is currently studying Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics in the Lower Sixth and is hoping to go on to a US university to study computing and pursue a career in software development.
