England Debate Team

One of our top debaters has been selected for the national team and will compete in a global competition next year.

Following a gruelling trial over several days, Olivia in Year 11 has been selected for the England Debate Team. She joins four other students on the team, who will train together before going on to compete at the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) next year.  The WSDC has been running for over 30 years and represents the pinnacle of English-language secondary school debating across the globe. The two-week tournament, held in Vietnam next July, will see teams from over 50 countries go head to head to debate social, moral and political issues.

We wish Olivia and her team mates the very best of luck, and are sure her success will inspire many more young debaters, such as those who recently triumphed at the Edinburgh University Juniors Debate Competition.
