Essay Prizes
Two Lower Sixth students have been recognised in prestigious international global essay competitions.
Olivia entered a humanities-focused essay competition, run by Northeastern University London (formerly New College of the Humanities), which attracts thousands of entries each year from across the world. Her essay explored whether the expanding gig economy contributes positively to sustainable economic growth, securing her place as a finalist. Olivia is studying for A Levels in Economics, History, Maths and Politics.
Meanwhile, Talia won top prize in the Ancient Philosophy category of the St John’s College Oxford Classics and Ancient History Essay Competition. Talia, who is studying Latin, Classical Greek, Maths and Further Maths, addressed the question: ‘Early Greek philosophers treat motion as identical to change. Are they right?’ Talia was awarded a £100 book token and invited to an exploration day at St John’s College.
Congratulations to both our essayists.
