Festive House Fun
During the final weeks of term, pupils and staff embraced an array of fun-filled festive contests between the Houses.
For the last Friday of term, students donned their aprons to create some impressive winter wonderland-themed show-stoppers at the Great House Bake Off. House points replaced Paul Hollywood-style handshakes, with the top three prizes awarded to Hermione in Year 7 (Potter), Crinan in the Lower Sixth (Bodington), and Riya in Year 10 (Walker). The subsequent bake sale raised over £600 for local bakery and social enterprise, Luminary, who empower disadvantaged women through baking – a new partnership we look forward to developing. All remaining cookies and cakes were delivered to the Doorstep Homeless Families Project, a local charity that our Junior School has been supporting for a number of years.
On the last full day of term, talented and enthusiastic musicians performed for their Houses; following accomplished solo and ensemble performances, groups assembled outside to enable some hearty, whole House singing – a wonderfully uplifting end to 2021. We look forward to lots more House activities next term, from football and masterchef, to spelling bees and a Maths contest.
