Film Producer Alumna

Mrs Paul joined one of our many trailblazing alumnae, Negeen Yazdi, to learn more about her career and achievements in the film industry.

The GDST ‘In Conversation’ series invites pupils, parents and our wider community to hear from a diverse range of alumnae from the Girls’ Day School Trust. This term, the focus turned to Negeen Yazdi (Class of 1995), a former South Hampstead pupil and a finalist for the GDST Alumna of the Year award.

Negeen has had an impressive career in film development and production with companies including Universal Pictures, Endeavour Content (where she spearheaded their Women in the Workplace initiative) and latterly as Senior Vice President at Fifth Season, who were responsible for Normal People and Killing Eve. She has recently joined as Popcorn Storm Pictures, led by the award-winning filmmaker and director of Peaky Blinders, Tom Harper, as a Partner and TV & Film Producer.

Negeen joined Mrs Paul for an engaging conversation about creative careers and women in male-dominated industries. Reflecting on her school days, Negeen remembered a happy, inclusive and creative environment, recalling the incredible teachers, legendary trips and the haven of the art department. She also spoke of the encouragement she received at school, and the lifelong friendships made, which have served as an important springboard for her future.
