Forest School
14 October 2020
Girls donned their waterproofs and wellies to enjoy bug-hunting and tree-climbing on Hampstead Heath.
The new ‘forest school’ initiative, generously funded by the PTA, has enabled pupils to explore outdoors this term and bring their learning to life. Pupils from Reception through to Year 6 have all had the opportunity to discover nature on their doorstep, with half day sessions hosted by the Exploration Society. Girls have worked in teams to build animal habitats and find insects, created sparks using flint, and used their imaginations to embark on challenges that test their communication skills and resilience. Year 3, who have been learning about soils, made plasticine fossils and went digging – one girl even found a coin from 1910.
