GCSE Results Day
Students celebrate another year of outstanding GCSE results.
Over 57% of all GCSE grades were 9s this year; 82.6% were an 8 or 9, and 94% were graded 7 to 9.
South Hampstead’s new Head, Mrs Paul, praised the students and teachers for their hard work and success: “Congratulations to everyone on such brilliant outcomes. It’s been wonderful to see pupils celebrating their well-deserved achievements this morning. I look forward to seeing them flourish in the Sixth Form as they embark on the next chapter of their studies.”
Over 38% of the cohort was awarded a clean sweep of the very top grades (8/9) this year. One of these students, Olivia, recently returned from Vietnam, where she competed as one of five students on Team England at the World Schools Debating Championships in Hanoi. Out of 64 teams, Team England finished with six wins from eight, and won 18 of 24 ballots, progressing to the next stage before narrowly losing to Malaysia. Olivia commented: “It was an amazing opportunity to meet hundreds of fellow debaters from across the world, to learn more about global issues and to tackle complex arguments with confidence. I’m looking forward to more debating at school next year alongside my A Levels in Economics, History, Maths and Politics.”
