GDST Hockey & Netball
This week, at our first GDST sports rally of the year, our U15 netball and U19 hockey teams got off to a strong start.
The hockey team, made up of girls who are significantly younger than the U19 age bracket, performed admirably in a tough group losing narrowly – but a very promising start to a young squad with lots of potential.
The U15 netballers also played well, kicking off with consecutive wins in their opening games. In the group stages of the rally they won 8 out of 10 matches, with convincing wins over several of their sister schools, including Birkenhead, Sydenham and Norwich. The team subsequently ended up finishing 3rd in their group, resulting in a play off for fifth place overall. Despite a sterling second half, they lost 10 – 7, but a great result out of the 22 national schools taking part.
