House Fun
This term’s events have spanned House debating, fashion and Maths, culminating in a fiercely fought staff House netball match.
Our House system, named after four former Headmistresses, is a wonderful way for girls to forge friendships across the year groups and engenders an inimitable sense of competitive camaraderie. We host regular inter-year House breakfasts and an array of events – from lip syncing to quizzes – involving staff as well as pupils. This term’s events have challenged the girls’ mathematical dexterity, creativity and oracy skills. Bodington argued their way to the top in House Debating, Benton won House Maths and, in a botanical-inspired fashion competition, Claudia in Year 7 from Potter came third, Maia in Year 11 from Benton placed second, whilst our overall winner was Vivienne from Benton in Year 11.
The competitive spirit reached a crescendo this week at our staff House netball match, as teachers and support staff took to the court in a packed sports hall, with our Sixth Form Sports Captains bravely umpiring several fast and furious games. Thank you to the supporters for their enthusiastic cheering and well done to Potter for the win. The fun continues next term with spelling bees, academic contests, sports day and more as our Houses vie for the coveted end of year trophy.
