Key Worker Support
Since lockdown began, and we shifted to our guided home learning programme, our doors have remained open to the children of key workers.
A number of Junior School pupils have been welcomed to the Senior School each day, following the same lessons as their at-home classmates in the library and enjoying lots of exercise in the sunshine. Teachers from across the school have stepped in to support the girls, enabling their parents to continue working in critical roles during the pandemic.
Some of our Senior School teachers, more experienced in teaching teenagers that five-year olds, have risen to the challenge with great enthusiasm: Geography Teachers have learnt new French vocabulary, Music Teachers have tackled Maths problems and our Head of Netball has lowered the hoops on court for shooting masterclasses.
Parental feedback has been very appreciative:
“I’ve been so impressed with the standard of work provided and the level of teacher support. It has allowed my girls to stay engaged and motivated and has enabled their education to keep up momentum as well allowing them to maintain their social connections.”
“A huge, huge thank you for enabling this working mum to keep working. It is enormously appreciated.”
“Thank you very much for your excellent (and life-saving!) key worker provision. She was very happy throughout. We don’t underestimate the amount of effort you expend in making sure the key worker provision runs as well as it does.”
“Thank you so very much for making it a happy and productive place for my daughter. We would have been seriously unable to do our jobs and support her learning at the same time.”
“I have been able to personally steer donations of hand sanitiser to the front line and even to Covid ward nurses… this would not have been possible had my attentions been focused on her schoolwork. It has been an exhausting time but hugely impactful. I wanted to share this with you as the onward benefits of keeping the school open impact a wider community than just our own.”
A huge thanks for all your incredible hard work.
Judging by the giggles and constant stream of thank you notes and doodles for the teachers and staff at reception, the girls have enjoyed the experience too.
