Kiverstein Singing Award Winners

Twenty finalists delighted the audience with songs from Sondheim to Nina Simone and Mozart to The Beatles at our annual singing competition.

We welcomed ABRSM examiner and Chair of the Association of Teachers of Singing, Heidi Pegler, to adjudicate the final. Congratulations to winner of the Junior Category, Lillian in Year 9, and Isabel in Year 11 for winning the Senior Category. Highly commended in the Juniors were Livvy and Sasha in Year 9 and Lara and Jemima in Year 7. Highly commended in the Seniors were Maisie in Year 10 and Year 11 pupils, Grace, Alisha and Arielle, who was also awarded the Kiverstein Bursary. Well done to everyone on their artistic endeavours and wonderful performances.

The late Miss Diana Kiverstein started teaching singing at South Hampstead Junior School in the 1980s before moving to the Senior School, where she taught for 17 years. Before she retired in 2008, Diana established the annual Leah Kiverstein Singing Award at South Hampstead in memory of her mother. Many South Hampstead students go on to pursue careers in music and enjoy a lifelong love of singing and performance.
