Motivational Monday – Psychology & Therapy
Pupils joined a lunchtime session with alumna Tally Levy (Class of 2018) to hear about her Psychology studies and career as a therapist.
Tally’s love of Psychology began when she studied it for A Level at South Hampstead; she credits her teachers with encouraging her to look beyond the syllabus and for giving her a real passion for the intellectual debate and theory around the subject. She went on read Psychology & Behavioural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, followed by a masters at UCL. She is now a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner working at Camden iCope NHS Talking Therapies, where her role involves assessing and supporting adults with mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, panic disorder, insomnia, and stress management.
Tally shared valuable advice with our pupils about applying for university places and then choosing a subsequent career path. Her own journey to become a therapist has taken many steps, including working as a teaching assistant in a school and for a diversity and inclusion charity; Tally emphasised the importance of taking time to find out what you are really interested in before embarking on a career. She continues to love the lifelong learning and training that is required as she develops her practice as a therapist, and looks forward to many more years as a student of Psychology.
Tally is one of the many alumnae who return each term to share their advice and experience with our current pupils as part of our Futures Programme.
