New term, new stationery
The latest pupil planners were designed by an Upper Sixth leaver, now heading to Central Saint Martins to study graphic design.
Each year, girls across the school receive a planner to help record their homework, timetable and busy co-curricular lives. For the past few years, the cover has been designed by talented artists – our pupils, past and present.
Art student and Sixth Former, Carly, embraced the project this year when her A Level exams were cancelled in the summer term. Her daffodil design, featuring the school’s values (thoughtfulness, open-heartedness, respect, courage and honesty) was created at home during the pandemic, inspired by nature and her time at South Hampstead.
“I enjoyed sketching lots of spring flowers whilst at home, which seemed appropriate… South Hampstead is a school where you really grow; everyone is given the opportunity to flourish.”
Carly begins her Graphic Design Foundation Course at Central Saint Martins later this term and is keen to pursue a career in graphic design. This year’s front cover illustration follows in the footsteps of a drawing by another Sixth Form artist last year, who went onto Art School in Paris. The previous year, the planner featured bold, colourful graphics by the renowned designer, and South Hampstead alumna, Kate Moross.
South Hampstead now offers Sixth Form Art Scholarships – find out more about how to apply here.
