Rebel Thinkers

Pupils have embarked on our new Rebel Thinkers programme, an entrepreneurial challenge being introduced across the Senior School.

Inspired by Matthew Syed’s book, Rebel Ideas: The Power of Diverse Thinking, the new programme aims to empower pupils to recognise the power of cognitive diversity over individual intelligence, and the value of tackling complex problems together.

Developed by Director of Employability, Dr Osborne, the programme was rolled out to students in Year 9 and 11 this term. Pupils worked in teams over several days to create their own companies, developing a product or service designed to solve an everyday problem or improve someone’s quality of life.

The groups came up with an aim and vision, analysing strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats, before producing comprehensive business and marketing plans. Their final pitches were delivered to a panel of their peers and judges, who voted for the next big idea to revolutionise the way we live.  Innovative products and services included Lunacab, a safer and more ethical taxi service for women; a sustainable Pride flag that can be planted; a no rush toothbrush connected to Spotify; and numerous helpful apps, including one to facilitate recycling and another to help find your best local shops.

Well done to everyone involved for such enthusiastic team-working, planning and ideation.

The Rebel Thinkers initiative will be rolled out to all pupils in the Senior School next year.
