Rock & Pop Concert
South Hampstead’s rock stars hit the stage for their second major gig in Waterlow Hall.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural Rock & Pop concert, musicians from Year 3 to the Sixth Form, as well as a staff band, performed live to the crowds. Music Captain Livvy, with the support of our Head of Contemporary Music, Mr Beecroft, and Production Manager, Mr Stevens, transformed Waterlow Hall into a rock venue, complete with lighting and haze.
Livvy reports back on the highlights of the evening:
I felt it was important to shed light on the talented bands that the school has within its community and create a fun, supportive atmosphere. The hall was standing room only, packed with pupils, parents, friends and staff. Of the dozen bands on stage, three performed original songs. Highlights included the Year 6 band, The Mindblowers, performing Sweet Child O Mine and the teachers’ rendition of Taylor Swift’s I Knew You Were Trouble, which made the audience go wild! My band, 7 Stars, rounded off the line up as we ended the night on a high, with the audience jumping and throwing flowers. We were thrilled to raise nearly £550 for the Nordoff Robbins Charity, who use music to enrich the lives of people with life-limiting illness or disabilities. Plans are already underway to host another concert in January.
