Royal Free Partnership
We continue to develop our partnership with the Royal Free Charity this term, as our students help out on the wards at our local hospital.
Two of our aspiring medics, Lower Sixth students April and Zara, visit the Royal Free Hospital each week, doing the rounds, talking to patients and helping to organise medical supplies. With visitor restrictions still in place, they are often some of the only people that patients see during the day. As well as serving lunch, teas and coffees, the students spend time shadowing nurses.
For a number of years, we have supported the Royal Free Charity through a range of fundraising activities. At the height of the pandemic, many of our families mobilised additional support for local frontline workers, funding much-needed coffee and freshly cooked meals. We look forward to developing the partnership further this year, inviting doctors and other medical professionals to speak to our budding medics as well as those from our local partner schools. As a school, we are also proud to be supporting the latest programme for Royal Free Radio, the hospital’s bedside entertainment operated by volunteers.
