Scholars’ Recital

Our talented Music Scholars from Years 8 to 11 performed at our first concert of the academic year.

At this week’s outstanding recital in Waterlow Hall, 22 of our 37 scholars performed on a huge range of instruments, including the French Horn, Oboe, Jazz Saxophone and Classical Singing; it was a fantastic evening of music-making and the girls should be very proud of themselves.

Music continues to go from strength to strength at South Hampstead, with over 300 individual music lessons happening each term. Scholars perform at our weekly lunchtime recitals, while all our musicians have the opportunity to sign up to perform in our half termly tea-time concerts in front of friends and family. Year 7 pupils are all offered the chance to take up free lessons on less commonly played instruments, whilst older musicians enjoy the challenge of teaching their teachers how to play an instrument from scratch via our well-established Grade 1 challenge programme.

After half term, we look forward to the final of our Kiverstein Singing Competition, two Winter Concerts, a special Towards 150 evening with the renowned pianist Stephen Kovacevich, the Rock & Pop Concert and our Carol Service, as well as over 60 music exams with both Trinity and ABRSM.
