Shine Media Awards
Our student magazine contributors have been commended at the national Shine Media Awards.
The Penguin magazine – named after our unofficial school mascot – is designed and produced by a team of dedicated students, with pupils of all ages contributing opinion pieces, artwork, articles and creative writing each term. This year’s Lower Sixth editor in chief, Zara, and head designer, Amalie, were invited to attend a ceremony at the Stationers’ Hall in the City of London, where they picked up two ‘highly commended’ awards on behalf of the team. Congratulations to Harriet in Year 8 who was recognised for her short story on sea-swimming in Scotland on Christmas morning, praised by the judges for being “funny, original and readable.” The wider team was highly commended for best overall content in the print category; the judges lauded The Penguin for its originality: “Elegantly laid out and exploding with enthusiasm… a confident entry with a lot of potential.”
The summer edition, Solstice, is out now, packed with opinion pieces, artwork, features, photography, recipes and recommendations – pick up your Penguin at school.
