Sixth Form Production
A group of Sixth Formers directed, performed and promoted a play entirely by themselves.
A dozen students embraced the challenge of staging their own performances over two nights. Dis/Troy tells the story of the dashing Greek warrior Achilles, who refuses to fight in the Trojan War, with dramatic scenes in the mortal world juxtaposed with comic scenes on Mount Olympus. Giulietta reports back:
‘Everyone in the cast took on some sort of supporting role as well as performing, aiding with the set design and helping to choose sound effects, music and lighting. We learned a lot about the importance of collaboration and the amount of backstage effort that goes on behind the scenes. Whilst some students are doing Drama A Level, others had no acting experience, so it was a great opportunity to connect with students from different academic backgrounds. The performances were a great success and a wonderful display of South Hampstead’s collaborative spirit.’
