National Ski Squad Training

Five of our pupils have been selected for elite training with the National Schools Ski Association.

After being crowned national champions, with their gold-medal winning performance in the U14 category at the English Ski Association Championships last term, Hannah in Year 8 and Maddy, Millie and Momo in Year 7 have been selected for the National Schools Ski Association Junior Squad. The girls had their first squad training day earlier this month at the Hemel snow dome which included technical skiing, team building and a talk from the Sochi gold medallist, Charlotte Evans. The training day was part of the girls’ preparation for a training week in Italy in March, which can lead to future selection for the GB team at the Schools World Championships. Alice in Year 5 has been selected for the Primary Squad, whose training camp will take place at Landgraaf in April.

Although not a key school sport, the girls have shown incredible commitment and enthusiasm this season, racing with determination against schools with bespoke ski staff and programmes. We are hugely grateful to our dedicated parent volunteer who has been instrumental in supporting the teams and leading them to achieve such great success.
