Skiing Silver Medal

Our ski team headed to the French Alps last week, coming away with memorable experiences as well as several podium places.

The South Hampstead Ski Team headed to Flaine to compete in the British Schoolgirls’ Ski Championships 2019 – an exciting and eventful week, with our skiers competing in both the Slalom and Slalom races. The girls had expert coaching from Precise Racing and made improvements on their race technique for two days prior to the race. They worked on powerful race starts, outside edge pressure and transitioning between turns to generate more speed. The girls had to perform two runs in each race and their score was combined. Hannah brought home the bronze medal in the Giant Slalom, a silver in the Slalom and came 2nd overall in the U14 unregistered category. Well done too to Anna and Maddy on their impressive times. As a team, the girls came 18th out of 50, beating some top skiing schools and many older pupils. Their individual results can be found on the British Schoolgirls’ website. Overall, the championships provided an enriching experience – and hopefully one that will encourage more pupils to take part in the sport.
