Sport for All
This week girls enjoyed an action-packed Sport for All week, celebrating our sporting ethos of inclusive excellence.
Our PE provision aims to encourage an attitude of sport for life in every pupil. While excellence is nurtured with regular competitive fixtures, specialist training coaches and a Going for Gold programme for our most talented sportswomen, we also focus on ensuring that each and every girl can find her sporting niche. Typically we offer over 20 different sporting activities before, during and after school. However, over the past week, pupils across the school have enjoyed trying out an even wider range of activities, including acroyoga, boxercise, pilates, street-dance and a very popular new game invented by our sports department – obstacle rounders – declared by its enthusiastic players to be: “the best game ever!” During the week, the PE Department also hosted external speakers to run lunchtime sessions on sports psychology, injury prevention and how best to balance sporting commitments with academic work.
