Sports Day

Pupils descended on Willesden athletics track, eager to contribute points to their House and vying to win the coveted Edbrooke Cup.

A kaleidoscope of face-paints and House T-shirts filled the stands, as the track heats and field events got underway. Pupils of all ages displayed fantastic team spirit, athleticism and sportsmanship, rallied by enthusiastic House Captains dressed (and even competing) as penguins, bees and dinosaurs. Staff timekeepers, parent supporters and eco team recyclers ensured it was a wonderful community event, with our social action team raising over £500 for charity from sales of their snacks and drinks.

The loudest cheers of the day were reserved for the final event: the staff relay. In her last South Hampstead sports day, Mrs Bingham bravely tackled the third leg of the 4 x 100m relay before handing over the baton – literally and metaphorically. Congratulations to everyone for another memorable sports day, to Potter for (once again) lifting the Edbrooke cup, and to all our athletes who set new impressive new records this year:

  • Year 7 200m: Chloe – 30.31s
  • Year 9 200m: Mabel – 27.53s
  • Year 9 800m: Izzy – 2.23
  • Year 9 High Jump: Anna – 1.43m
  • Year 10 Shot Put: Ines – 8.06m
  • Lower Sixth High Jump: Ashia – 1.45m
