Spring Sport

Pupils end the season with triumphs across a range of sports – and national GDST champions in one!

An active second half of the spring term has seen pupils getting muddy on cross country runs on Hampstead Heath as well as trying out new activities. Our first cohort of PE GCSE pupils mastered top-roping techniques at the first of three rock-climbing sessions, whilst our sports scholars took advantage of our latest addition to the sports ground: a new padel court. Padel is reportedly the fastest-growing sport in the world – we look forward to the official opening next term.

Over 30 pupils from Year 7 to the Sixth Form enjoyed a Sunday at the Emirates stadium, watching Arsenal Ladies vs Spurs Ladies, whilst our hockey players have had a great season, with numerous victories. Our U14 netball team also had a strong season; as well as qualifying for the Middlesex finals and finishing 4th in the county, they also made it to the semi-final of the Sisters ‘n’ Sport plate competition.

Other highlights have included our U15 cricket team taking first place at the MCC tournament at Lord’s and two of our fencers reaching the quarter finals of the Public Schools’ Fencing competition – congratulations to Pandora in Year 9 and Eliana in Year 10 who are now off to compete in the British Youth Championships in Sheffield. Our dancers also put on a fantastic display of agility and rhythm last week at two impressive dance shows.

Finally, congratulations to our U13 football squad – this year’s GDST champions! Competing at Bromley High School, they played brilliantly throughout the day; unbeaten, they scored an impressive 31 goals, conceding only 2, and won the final 2 – 0. Well done on an amazing team performance.
