Spring Term Walk
Our walk through the Royal Parks and past city landmarks was a wonderful way to end the term, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Each year, pupils and staff embark on a 10km walk: a community endeavour to raise money for our school charities. On the final day of term, throngs of pupils and teachers met in the sunshine at Wellington Arch; for many, the adventure began by navigating some severe delays on the Jubilee line, with one Sixth Former deciding to walk all the way to the start point, almost doubling her distance for the day! Pupils locked their phones in their Yondr pouches – as they do each day before school – to make the most of spending uninterrupted time outdoors together.
Groups set off under blustery blue skies through Hyde Park, Kensington Park Gardens and St James Park amid the daffodils and cherry blossom, greeting staff marshalls with great enthusiasm at check points along the way. As well as passing Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, the groups crossed Whitehall and the Thames, whilst some of our intrepid walkers saw the changing of the guards and even caught a glimpse of King Charles travelling along the Mall. Just over two hours later, pupils and staff ended their adventure at Victoria Tower Gardens before heading home for a well-earned holiday.
We are grateful to everybody’s efforts in raising funds to support Spear Resurgo, Maggie’s Cancer Care, the Royal Free Charity, The Winch, and the Umubano Academy in Rwanda – donations are warmly welcome via ParentPay.
