Springtime Jazz

Our musicians started the year with an uplifting Spring Chamber Concert followed by a spectacular evening of Jazz.

2025 got underway with two spectacular January concerts. At our Spring Chamber Concert, nine talented chamber groups, run by our visiting music teachers, played and sung a variety of impressive repertoire, from a jazzy vocal rendition of Blue Moon to Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes written for Clarinet, String Quartet and Piano. The following week saw the return of the Music Department’s illustrious Jazz Night. In a moodily-lit Waterlow Hall, the audience was treated to an evening of incredible music-making over drinks and dinner, with our talented Jazz ensembles led by Mr Beecroft, Mr Marsden and Mr Onissi. Musicians from Year 8 and 9 formed their own band for the evening, while Audrey, one of our Sixth Form Music Scholars who leads our Junior Jazz group, gave a very special solo performance on the electric bass. Congratulations to everyone involved for a fantastic evening.
