String Players
Our Year 1 musicians hosted a wonderful concert for parents, playing violins, violas, double basses and cellos.
Each year, all Year 1 pupils are introduced to a string instrument. During their class music lessons, the String Project Team help them to develop their musicality, learn bow holds, play pizzicato and acquire the requisite skills to practise at home. Last week, girls staged an impressive concert in Waterlow Hall, playing a variety of pieces including Pineapples are Juicy and Airport. Parents and teachers enjoyed some audience participation by singing and joining in with actions to Tony Chestnut!
Our String Project programme helps to ensure every pupil has excellent foundations for future music-making. In Year 2, all pupils progress onto learning the recorder; most then continue with individual instrument tuition as they progress through the school with our outstanding visiting music teachers.
