Student Wellbeing Award
South Hampstead has been shortlisted for the Independent School of Year Student Wellbeing Award 2021.
In a year like no other, positive pastoral leadership has been vital. Throughout the pandemic, our buzzing co-curricular programme continued apace, while numerous new initiatives have helped to liven up a challenging year, from wellness walks and social action projects, to pupil lockdown challenges and an action-packed ‘summer of joy’ programme. The successful roll-out of our new Positive Perspectives programme, drawing on elements of Psychology and Philosophy, encourages pupils to cultivate new ways of thinking, empowering them to be architects of their own happiness. A key member of the pastoral team, Maple the cavapoo, has now been in residence for two years, while our regular Keeping in Touch talks and Pastoral Spotlight blog continue to shine a light on salient issues for our parent community.
This year, over 700 entries were received for the awards, run by Independent School Parent Magazine. The awards are judged by a panel chaired by Dr Helen Wright, past Vice Chair of the Independent Schools Council; six UK finalists for the Student Wellbeing Award – including South Hampstead – were announced in the autumn term.
