Teacher Awards

Two of our incredible teachers have been recognised for outstanding work in their fields this term, in both Science and the Arts.

Head of Year 11, Ms Russo (our recently appointed Director of STEM), has been named in the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 list – London’s most influential people 2019 – alongside Cheryl Giovanonni, CEO of the GDST. The accolade follows Ms Russo being shortlisted for the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize last December, for her work championing girls to further their study of Science and empowering them to challenge stereotypes.

Meanwhile the Art Department’s Mr Adam Hennessy has just been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious Contemporary British Painting Prize. His works, selected from over 700 entries, will be exhibited in Huddersfield Art Gallery next month.  South Hampstead’s talented art technician has had a number of group and solo shows in recent years, in both London and Wales. ‘Art with Adam’ is a popular enrichment option available to pupils  in Year 7 to 9 as part of our Mehr Licht programme.
