This Changes Everything
Each year, our Lower School put on an ambitious production. This week they tackled a challenging play about a group of young women who want to change the world.
Joel Howard’s ‘This Changes Everything’ is a timely play about a group of disillusioned teenage girls who disappear to form a community – a new type of society and a better way of living. The play touches on politics, climate change and how, as a society, we need to change where we live and not run away from it.
38 pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9 spent many a lunchtime and hours before and after school rehearsing, culminating in a wonderful three-night run this week. Congratulations to cast and crew on their powerful performances, delivered with such confidence, energy and poise.
Drama has always been a strong point at South Hampstead, both on-stage and behind the scenes, providing plenty of opportunities to shine. Last year saw the school’s best ever GCSE Drama results as well as the introduction of a new Drama Scholarship for entry into the Sixth Form. South Hampstead alumnae include numerous BAFTA and Emmy award-winning actors, theatre directors, playwrights and set designers.
