Top Destinations
For the third consecutive year, 20% of our Upper Sixth students have received offers from Oxbridge; others are heading to US Ivy League and other prestigious destinations.
Nine students have received offers from Cambridge and eight students from Oxford this year, to read a range of subjects including Chemistry, Modern Foreign Languages, Medicine, Law with German, Music, Philosophy & Linguists, and History & Economics. So far, two students have ‘early offer’ places at Ivy League universities, and one of our Arkwright Engineering Scholars has secured an offer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Other offers secured so far range from Environmental Earth Sciences at St Andrews, Experimental Linguistics at UCL, Integrated Design Engineering at Bath, and Anthropology at Durham. Typically, over 80% of South Hampstead students are placed in Russell Group universities each year, with others heading to medical schools, leading art schools and universities overseas.
The school’s comprehensive Futures Programme is headed up by a team of experts who offer bespoke advice and one-to-one support, including preparation for Oxbridge and international universities, as well as advising on gap year opportunities, in a rapidly changing landscape.
Mrs Bingham commented: “This year’s cohort have shown tremendous fortitude amid all the uncertainty. Our pupils have excelled themselves, securing offers at some of the world’s leading destinations in a competitive year. I am delighted that their positive attitude, hard work and perseverance have paid off, whatever path they choose to pursue.”
